Miami City Guide

Describe The City Of Miami, Florida In A Summarized Way.?

Go wild! Can you describe all the aspects of Miami in a simplified way and come up with a very strong final conclusion? I’d like to visit or live there one day and I would like to know your opinion. How do you feel when you’re there? What do you think of the city? Please and thank you!
I’m not looking for facts and information about its history etc., but rather why you like/dislike it.

Miami= whirlwind of bright colors, smells and tastes from all around the world. Rumba and salsa to the beat of rock and jazz. White beaches and dark alleys – you´ll find here everything and sometimes nothing at all.
I hope it´s not too much of a poem, but if you want another kind of description you´ll better find it at Fodor´s.
In any case: enjoy and let yourself be captivated by the magic of Miami!

I Live right outside of Miami, so I visit there pretty often.
Miami is a great place especially if you’re young. It has lots of clubs and entertainment complexes. It’s hard to not find fun here. The restaurants are really good, you have the real expensive ones but also have really good decent priced ones also. The traffic is decent. At rush hour on weekdays it can get hectic. But not as bad as other cities such as Atlanta, or Dallas. The views all across are beautiful! The beaches are what they are known for. Some of the nicest beaches in the U.S. are found right here! Be sure to have your eyes fixated on the sky allot, due to the scenic skies practically at every moment.
By the way, Housing for the most part is terrible here though! Figured you needed to know, but then if you have the money, most of their prices are almost cut in half.
Best of luck coming to the Sunshine State!

Hi, I was born and raised in western PA, then lived for 14 years in NYC, then moved to Miami. And Stayed. I am a couple hours from the Florida Keys and beautiful beaches and people, a couple hours in the opposite direction and the fantasy of the world is right there at the Disney Parks, Universal, etc. I can easily cruise out of the Florida ports to the magic of the Caribbean. Location, location, location.
Living in Miami is a delicious daily buffet of great food and people. At this time, most of the population is Latin. I’ve realized that I hardly ever hear English spoken any more on the streets no matter where I am. Many, many people you’ll encounter do not even speak English at all, or they may speak a few phrases but don’t understand what you say back.
I hate to mention that we have large ghetto areas also that are drug drenched, crime ridden dangerous places. They exist and are real and not all the protests in the world can change the facts. Traffic and commuting to work can be a long ordeal.
In the 40 years I’ve lived here in Miami, I haven’t found people especially friendly. They will nod and smile and say hello if you do first usually, but there has never been the small town friendly attitude that I ever found in any of the areas I’ve lived in. Driving in Traffic is typical of this. Drivers are normally not polite, don’t let you in or out of traffic flow and will usually pretend not to see you. This is the far opposite of, say, the state of Maine. By the way, the state motto of Maine is ”The Way Life Should Be” and it is. Not so in Miami. That is also a part of living here.
After living in and raising a family in Miami, I still feel like an outsider, and not a part of it all. The beaches are wonderful, places to go and take the family, too many to mention, shows, restaurants, variety, shopping, that’s all here but I feel that Miami is not a warm and welcoming city.
